Looking Dandy in Brandy

One of my all time favorite stores to shop at is Brandy Melville. The clothing they sell is so unique, trendy, and versatile. I first discovered Brandy Melville a little over a year ago when I was living in California, and I was instantly attracted to their clothing. It's like my style all wrapped up into a store. I love absolutely everything! Seriously, if I could buy every single piece of clothing they sell, I would. But obviously I can't do that, so instead I thought I would share with you guys some of my favorite pieces that they sell, so that we can lust after everything together. ;)
(It was really hard to narrow it down to only 12 pieces, because I really do love EVERYTHING)

If you are interested in checking out any of the pieces I have listed below, or just want to browse their website, click here: Bandy Melville

Best Dressed at the Oscars

It was a night filled with beauty, grace, and glamour. The fashion at the Oscars last night could not have been more amazing! Everyone looked so stunning and elegant. It was by far the best dressed night of the entire 2013 awards season. I am just so completely in love with the 'Old Hollywood' look that many celebrities portrayed last night, and I hope we will continue to see this look become a reoccurring  trend in the months to come.

Here are my top picks for best dressed last night:

Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Coture

Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen

 Adel in Jenny Packham

Obsession Confession: Jennifer Lawrence

I don't think there is anyone out there who doesn't like Jennifer Lawrence. She is beautiful, smart, funny, sweet, talented, and incredibly stylish. Jennifer is my absolute favorite celebrity today. I adore everything about her, from her looks, to her style, to her personality. She has an untouchable elegance about her and yet she is so seemingly normal and down to earth. I honestly don't know how she does it. Her style is something to be marveled at. She always looks drop dead gorgeous in everything she wears, and has one of those iconic looks to her, that screams of style and beauty. She exudes such beauty and grace that even the prestigious Dior couldn't deny it. They recently named her the new face of Miss Dior. Which is in my opinion very well deserved. Jennifer Lawrence is the epitome of style, and is pretty much just plain freaking awesome! :)

Tips for School Style Suave

Looking your best, and dressing trendy for school is often quite hard to achieve. Especially when your alarm didn't go off, so you woke up late, and didn't have enough time to get ready. Or when you are one who despises early mornings and you never has the patients in the early hours to put thought and effort in to your look. It also doesn't help that these days, thanks in part to the ever growing media, you are feeling the added pressure to look as if you stepped right off the runway and into the school hallway. When you're strapped for time, but still want to look beautiful and effortlessly put together, without appearing as if you are desperate for attention, or are trying to hard, things can get pretty tricky. So if you want to look effortlessly beautiful, but don't feel like you have the time or energy to do so in the morning here are some tips that may be helpful to you.

-Plan out your outfit the night before. Or plan out all your outfits for the week on Sunday night. That way you will never be scouring your closet for anything resembling 'acceptable school attire' and wind up wearing your grey swat suit that you normally only deem acceptable for at home lounge wear.
-Shower at night. This one is obvious, but if you are struggling to find time in the morning, but are still showering in the morning, switch it up. Showering at night not only saves you the extra 15 minutes from your showering time, but also saves you the time it takes for you to blow dry your hair.
-Keep it simple. Try not to make your outfit choice to complicated. A pair of jeans, or leggings, and a cute top, or a skirt, paired with a sweater, or even just a simple dress, and a cardigan. are all perfect choices. The more clothing pieces you have to put together, the longer it will take to get ready.
-When in doubt, wear Uggs. Ugg boots go with practically everything, and if you find yourself running low on time, and are indecisive about which pair of shoes best matches your outfit, more than likely the pair of Uggs that are sitting in the back of your closet, will match perfectly.
-Use the 1,2,3 rule when it comes to makeup. If you have five minutes or less to do your makeup, then remember; Mascara, Blush, Lipstick, in that order. Apply Mascara first, Blush second, and Lipstick third. In my opinion these are the only true essentials when it comes to makeup for school. If you have more time to put into your makeup then go for it.
-Skip the eye shadow (and even the eyeliner). Opt for bold lashes, and allow them to be the focal point of your look.
-Comfort is essential. Keep in mind that you are going to be wearing your outfit at school all day and you don't want to be uncomfortable. Theres nothing worse than sitting in class with a pair of jeans on that is two sizes to small, and feeling like you are going to die because you're pretty positive that the pants are crushing your insides.
-Confidence is key. What ever you wear, be sure it makes you feel good. If you like what you're wearing, and it makes you feel confident, people will notice. So when planing your outfits, make sure they are what YOU want to wear, not what you think you're 'supposed to' wear.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you feel good, and confident. Wear what you love, and don't give into the pressure of feeling the need to look a certain way if you don't want to. Just be you.

From the Catwalk to the Sidewalk

I was looking through some pictures of different collections shown at fashion week and was wishing I could wear some of the outfits I saw. Of course everything on the runway is far to expensive for me to even dream of owning, as I'm sure is true for most of you. But it got me thinking, that it would be cool to try and re-create some of the designers outfits using cheeper pieces from clothing stores I can actually afford. It ended up being quite a fun little experiment; going to different online stores, and looking through their clothing to try and spot the perfect shirt, skirt, etc, that most closely resembled the one on the runway. I highly recommend doing this if you too want to be seen in the most current and on trend looks. And it just goes to show that anyone really can rock the 'runway look' without the 'runway price.'

Liebster Blog Award

Until last night I had no idea what the Liebster Award was, so when Becky told me that she had nominated me for the Award I was completely shocked. It was just so sweet of her to think about nominating me. I only just started my blog a little over a week ago and for something like this to happen just meant so much to me. To know that people are taking the time to read what I post, and are actually enjoying it, is just the coolest feeling ever! I think the idea behind this award is so awesome. It allows you to be able to share blogs that you enjoy reading with others, and is a great way to connect with people and discover new blogs. It's basically just sharing the 'blog love' with fellow bloggers. I am so thankful to be nominated, and I am so excited to continue posting for a long time to come! :)

1. You must link back to the person who nominated you - Becky Collins (beckyjeanonline)

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Paris France, because for as long as I can remember that has been my dream. I used to dream about living there as a child and as I got older it became more and more certain to me that one day, I would live there. Even if it's only for a short amount of time in my life.

It's really wonderful! Much love. <3

Textures 'in Vogue'

While scouring Vogue.com for inspiration I came across this outfit from London Fashion Week, that I thought I would share with you.

I seriously cannot get enough of this outfit. I am in love! It's so unique, and yet so perfectly on trend. This outfit is what I like to call 'busy'. Every piece of it is made up of a different pattern and a different texture. Pairing different textures, and patterns is very 'in vogue' at the moment, and this outfit could not be a more perfect example of how to style the trend. Also, the detail in this outfit is amazing; from the cuffing of the pants, to the tucked in shirt, to the sunglasses. At first look, it may be hard to take it all in, but when you take the time to look at it more closely, and pay attention to the detail, it really becomes this beautiful work of art in a way.

I know everyone may not like the idea of pairing all these different textures and patterns together, or may not think they could pull it off, and thats perfectly okay. That's the great thing about fashion, it's not one size fits all, it's really one size fits one. You get to decide what you like and what you don't, and draw inspiration from other peoples looks, and use it to create your own unique, one of a kind style. So stay beautifully unique, and rock what you feel best in.

Street Style Savvy

I don't know about you, but I am completely obsessed with looking at street style pictures on the internet. I mean, I seriously cannot look at street style fashions enough. I just think it is the best way to really be 'in the know' when it comes to the current trends, and it also really helps me to learn how to incorporate the styles into an everyday wearable outfit. So if you're like me then here are some totally awesome trendy looks that I am absolutely in love with....

You can get so much inspiration for your own look simply by observing other peoples style, and by paying attention to the way they put their outfits together. So go outside, take a walk downtown, sit in a coffee shop and 'people watch', or google some street style pictures. Who knows, you may end up learning a whole lot about fashions that you never knew before.

Makeup is a Girls Best Friend

You know the saying 'diamonds are a girls best friend', well I think makeup is a girls best friend. Makeup has the power to make you feel beautiful, confident, and self assured. It can completely change the way you (and others) view yourself, and it can turn an ordinary looking girl into a drop dead gorgeous supermodel. In my opinion makeup is one of the most powerful weapons we have in our quest for beauty.

I personally own far too much makeup than I could ever hope to use, but for me makeup is something I feel is worth spending copious amounts money on. After all, it can hold the key to me feeling far more confident, and in turn far more happy.

Now don't get me wrong, I think natural beauty is something to be admired, and there is nothing I admire more than a girl who is equally confident with or without makeup on. But personally I just feel better and more beautiful when I do wear makeup. This is not meant to sound vain, but in fact, the opposite. I wish I felt equally as beautiful regardless of what I was, or wasn't 'wearing' on my face. But living in the world in which we do; where beauty seems to be the deciding factor of your successfulness, and happiness as a person it seems almost impossible to feel that way. So I say that if makeup is something you want to use to feel beautiful then I don't see anything wrong with that. I  think many others can agree with me on that, so I have put together a list of some of my current makeup favorites.

Recently I have really been loving all things Tarte. Everything from their primer, to their blush, to their mascara. Tarte is my favorite makeup brand of all time. I love that all their products are cruelty free, (they don't test on animals) and paraben free (they don't have all those harsh nasty chemicals in them). And not only that, but the quality of their products is seriously AMAZING! I have yet to try a single product that I don't absolutely love! Also, I feel like I really get my moneys worth with everything I buy. And as a company I feel like they truly care about their consumers, and always strive to produce the best quality products. Here are some of my current Tarte faves:

Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-hr Perfecting Primer $30
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Full Coverage Foundation $38
Tarte Maracuja Creasless Concealer $24
Tarte Amazonian Clay Pressed Mineral Powder $30
Tarte Mineral Bronzer in 'Park Ave Princess' $29
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush in 'Exposed' $26
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush in 'Dollface' $26
Tarte Smooth Operator Mineralized Finishing Powder $29
Tarte Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-hr Smoothing Eye Primer $19
Tarte MultiplEYE Lash Enhancing Liquid Eyeliner $22
Tarte Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara in 'Gifted' $19
Tarte Lipsurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint in 'Envy' $24
Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12-hr Lipstick in 'Wild' $26

If you want to check out any of the products I mentioned, or take a look at other Tarte products click here: Tarte Cosmetics

Everyone is beautiful with or without makeup, everyone is special, and unique in their own way. So whether you choose to embrace your God given beauty, or enhance it, just know that you are indeed a one of a kind beauty. And you are a fierce kind of Gorgeousness.

My Grammy Favorite

Rihanna, my God! She looked absolutely stunning in her custom made Alia at the Grammy Awards this past Sunday! This has got to be one of my all time favorite dresses/ looks worn on any red carpet EVER! But seriously. I mean she is the epitome of beautiful so she would of looked gorgeous in almost anything, but this, this puts her on a whole nother level of beauty! Everything about it was perfection. I also feel like she took a big risk by choosing to wear this dress to this particular awards show. It was completely unexpected, and totally different from anything I've ever seen on her before. It's certainly not something that could be put in the category of the 'typical Rihanna look', so to choose this dress for the Grammys of all things, was in my opinion absolutely brilliant! So with that I say, well done Rihanna, and you go girl!

Feel the Love: A Valentines Day Fashion Guide

Lets face it, we all want to feel beautiful on Valentines day (even if we are single) but most of us can't afford to go out and spend hundreds on a single outfit just to feel beautiful. But we also don't want to wear an outfit that has well out worn it's welcome in our wardrobe. We want something new, something flirty, something trendy. That is why I have gathered together three perfect outfit ideas that every girl can rock this Valentines. So whether you've got a romantic date planned, or you're going out with a few friends, or like me you're planning to stay home avoid the holiday all together, here are some outfits that will make you look and feel your best without breaking the bank.

All items mentioned are from Forever 21, but you can find similar pieces at many other retailers.

If you are among the lucky ones that have a romantic evening planned with your special someone (which by the way I'm totally jealous), then I recommend taking the time to really get dressed up and go all out. I mean, every girl wants to feel like a princess, and what better time to dress like one than on Valentines day. Try pairing a blush pink colored lace dress with some totally awesome black pumps and a black quilted cross body bag. This fun and flirty dress is totally perfect for the occasion, and will have your special someone feeling like they won the lottery with you.

FOREVER 21
Lace Back Dress
$24.80

FOREVER 21
Satin Platform Pumps
$29.80

FOREVER 21
Heart Lock Shoulder Bag
$24.80

If you're heading out for a night on the town with friends this outfit is the perfect balance of comfort (for all that dancing you are bound to be doing) and style. Try pairing a light pink buttoned up blouse with a pleated black leather skirt. Add some platform nude wedges and an awesome black studded clutch to complete the look. After all, the leather skirt is a must have statement piece for any young fashionista and is guaranteed to drive all those single boys crazy. ;)

FOREVER 21
Longline Contrast Pocket Shirt
$19.80

FOREVER 21
Faux Leather A-Line Skirt
$22.80

FOREVER 21
Patent Peep Toe Wedges
$32.80

FOREVER 21
Structured Studded Clutch
$24.80

Now just because you don't have a date this Valentines doesn't mean you can't get in on the fashion fun. As a girl, being alone on Valentines day doesn't mean you want to look like a slob (because that can make you feel 10 times worse about being single). You want to look good (and feel sexy) and there is no reason why you shouldn't. So if your plans include curling up on the couch with a giant bowl of popcorn and watching every single Nicholas Sparks movie ever made, then this is the perfect outfit for you. It's simple, comfortable and perfect for sitting on the couch (all night). Just pair a cute oversized sleep shirt with some good old fashioned moccasin slippers, throw your hair up in a messy ponytail and wa-la you are lookin' good and feelin' chill.

FOREVER 21
Love You Nightdress
$9.80

FOREVER 21
Suede Moccasins
$26.80

If you want to checkout more clothes from Forever21 just click here: Forever21

Whatever you're plans are this Valentines day, I hope you have a wonderful time, and I hope you feel like a million bucks. :)
<3 Stay Passionate, StaceyAnn
